passing bucks all along
minus some forethought
without getting caught

dressed in golden oil
behind open-and-porous
white-washed walls

all for a song
by mixing
“this-with-that”

being freed from passion
full-bodied sopranos
not meant to happen...

calling for encores
hands clapping madly:

Telling old wives’ tales
I know an old lady
There was an old woman”

seldom seen ‘cause
“The cheese stands alone”
chanting, “Ring around the rosie”
“London Bridges falling down”
“duck duck duck goose”
“Olly Olly oxens free”
playing hide-and-seek
via high levels of mercury

while staring into panoramic
natural history museums
of taxidermy with certainty 
like, “death and taxes”
as passing examples...
